World War II Online FAQ

Welcome aboard, fellow virtual warrior!

WHAT IS THIS PLACE?

You may have stumbled in here by accident, or you may have followed a link or a thread, actively hunting the game down.

This is the HQ, a fan site for World War II Online (WWIIOL), a brand new concept in massively multiplayer online games - an ongoing war with WWII-era weapons, in a persistent world, with a realistic physics and damage model. It is a stand-alone game, not a mod for Half-Life, Counterstike, Rogue Spear or any other game out there. You can find the official game web site at www.wwiionline.com.

HOW MUCH WILL ALL THIS COST?

For the final production release, the game will be distributed as a boxed game which you will have to purchase in order to play for a suggested retail price of $40 US (possibly).

After you have bought the game and signed up, you will have to pay a monthly fee using either a credit card or a cheque, much like Everquest, Asheron's Call, Warbirds, Aces High, and several other multiplayer online games. (There may be a short period during Open Beta testing where play will be free).

Cornered Rat Software has stated that the cost will be $9.99 US dollars per month. $10 US is the lowest price known for an online game (Everquest, Fighter Ace) and $25-30 US is the highest (Aces High, Warbirds). Thus, by comparison, this monthly fee is relatively cheap.

WHERE CAN I LEARN MORE?

Please read the frequently discussed topics FAQ and the WWIIOL HQ FAQ List. Between these two, it will very likely answer most questions you may have.
