"E3
Goodness " I recently was able to attend E3 this Saturday and let me tell you it was a blast! It was so much fun that I decided to share it here with all of you. So sit back, grab your favorite chair and let’s begin. My story starts off when I discover from the Rats that they are going to be in LA for E3. As E3 drew near, I longed to be there with them. Well, one day out of the blue while talking to Death’s Toe he said that he had an extra Guest Pass to E3 and that I was his guest! I was thrilled, but it was half the battle, because E3 is only open to ‘professionals from the industry,’ where the industry is the gaming industry. Myself being a college student, it seemed that I would be unable to attend. Then Ammodog, hearing my story, explained how he was the owner of a gaming retail store chain called The Disk Space, and that he could write me a letter that would declare me a representative of him, and get me into E3! So with a little organization and a little luck, Ammodog was able to fax me a letter of representation and Death's Toe and myself were able to set up a meeting time and place at E3 so that I might be able to partake in such a wonderful adventure such as E3. Guys just let me take this time to thank both of you for your help. As all stories that involve fans visiting Cornered Rat Software it begins with a car. Unfortunately it’s not my car, but man is it sweet! If some of you don’t know recognize it, it’s the new Saleen S7. You can see more about the Saleen S7 at their website. Oh yeah, for those of you wondering that tall guy next to the car is me, General Patton.
On Saturday we arrived just in time to see the end of Mo’s big presentation. Too bad for us, better for some others (you know who you are :) ). However, we got to get some really neat pictures for you all. This one has Mo in the far back and Rafter next to him. Rafter is the guy closer to the camera.
After the presentation, this was left as the desktop. I put it here to give you an idea as to how big this screen is. In the words of the Rats, it’s HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!
Before I go into the WWII Online booth, let me show you who Death's Toe and myself ran into.
For those of you who have been living under a rock (like myself, Death's Toe was the one that saw him), it’s Elijah Wood. He’s playing the main character (the Hobbit) in the new movie coming out called Lord Of The Rings. He was a really cool guy, and seemed interested in meeting me. He was the only celebrity that I saw there, although I heard that some people from Survivor were there on Thursday, and Sid Meier was too. For those of you who are Counter-Strike gurus, Gooseman and Cliffe were there too, but I didn’t see them either. First the introduction: These are the rats that came to E3. Everyone say “Hi Rats!”
Notice the HUUUUUUUUUGE screens that they were playing on? Also, did I mention that they had a direct OC3 line to the servers? And did I mention that they had a killer joystick? Hrm, says me, can I get that for Christmas? They had four demoing areas set up for people to play.
If you look carefully at the first picture you’ll notice a soldier sitting on the job. Wait a tick! What’s this? He’s sitting on a tank! Yep, that’s right, Tongue caught a ride on a British A13 tank. Both sides have tanks that troops can ride on.
And here is a first person view of riding on a tank.
Other than myself and Dtoe visiting the WWII Online booth were some other players that came to stop by. Here you see Gunner playing and Mo in the background. Other players that came on Saturday were Eggman and Kill-9. More came other days but I don’t know who.
Mo is an extremely busy man, seen here. Not just anyone can be the WWII Online Man.
All in all the Rats are a great group of people to be with. Death's Toe and myself sat there most of the day and talked up a storm with Rafter and the other Rats. They’ve all got a wonderful sense of humor. People at the convention were really interested in WWII Online. It was a really fun time meeting them all, and it seemed likewise for them too. Best part was at the end when E3 was closing. The Rats gave all us players a 5 foot stand up poster-board and the JOYSTICKS THAT THEY DEMOED WITH! Oh man, that was awesome! Death's Toe and myself were just standing there in the back and Rafter came up to us and said, "Hey guys, want to take home those joysticks you were demoing with?" A that point I promptly fainted.
