Leichter Fernsprechpanzerwagen Sd. Kfz. 251

Slightly larger than the 250 was the Sdkz 251   which was the mainstay of the SS Panzergrenadier units. Slightly heavier at nearly 8 tons unladen it had even more variants than the 250 with 23 different models. It was originally intended for use as an APC but at the wars end it had been employed as radio command vehicle, mortar carrier, multiple rocket launcher, ambulance, anti-tank vehicle armed with 37mm and 75mm anti-tank guns, searchlight vehicle, infa-red support vehicle( used in conjunction with Panther tanks fitted with infa-red equipment), flame thrower carrier, anti-aircraft gun carrier, engineer support vehicle carrying bridging equipment and ammunition carrier. Its top speed as an APC was 53 kph and had a range of 300 km.
